I have NOTHING but great things to say about this movie. It was everything I wanted and more. When I saw a trailer come out and it was going to be on Netflix I nearly lost my mind. This was pretty much an exact replica of the video game that I love so dearly. Dynasty Warriors is honestly my favorite game of all time. When they created this movie, they captured everything about it perfectly. The ONLY thing I would have to knock them on is Lu Bu. Lu Bu was not as badass as I wanted him to be. I ALWAYS get scared of him and my heart beats faster when he pops up in the game. I guess I did not get that feeling because I am watching instead of playing. . . Ok I take it back. Lu Bu was good.
Dynasty Warriors video game is full of crazy stunts, crazy fights, and crazy moves. That is what this movie gave us. I see that other reviews really hate on this movie. I guess I can see why because the graphic effects are not as amazing as we are used to now a days, but I still enjoyed it. I guess I felt since the game is ridiculous the movie should mirror that, and I think it did.
Since the video game itself has cut scenes between missions and they are fantastic, I am beginning to wonder if they should have made this movie as an animated show instead of a live action. An animated movie or TV show would be just as amazing.
In an area that I will agree with other critics is that the acting was not all there. I do wish the people they casted were more into their role. Sometimes they looked like they did not want to be there, but they were forced to. This is why I am leaning more towards they should have made this as an animated movie.
Oh! My one true complaint about the movie is that I was missing all my badass ladies. The video game is full of women who are amazing warriors just as much as the men are. I am thinking maybe they will make another movie and put them in it, but if they do not then I will officially be mad.
I feel if you are a fan of the video games you will enjoy the movie.
