These just keep getting better and better. I am constantly on the edge of my couch reading these issues.

Writing

Oh man, the way this issue opened up it was a bit eerie. Definitely something you would see in a scary film. I love that this issue was mainly about Keeve and her journey dealing with her lack of confidence, her fear, and her doubting herself. We see in the darkness that she truly does not feel that she is worthy enough to be a Jedi Knight. You can tell that Scott took inspiration from the scene on Dagoba when Luke is confronting his own fear and runs into Darth Vader.

Artwork

The artwork in this issue was scary beautiful. The colors and the art itself came together nicely. Both artist new exactly the direction that they wanted to go, so their work married wonderfully. It truly enhances the overall story that Scott is telling. By far one of the best issues. It was beautifully scary and the artwork really did such a fantastic job at bringing out the right emotions when I was reading this.

Overall

The cliffhanger at the end was INTENSE! I know it was not THE BEST cliffhanger, but it was still good and it still left me on the edge of my couch. Like I said before, it was great seeing Keeve front and center, and it was wonderful seeing the parallels between her and Luke Skywalker. I cannot wait to see where this leads.

The High Republic. Heart of the Drengir. Chapter ll: Of Sith and Shadows

The sinister Drengir devour all in their path. Jedi Master Avar Kriss forms an uneasy alliance with the treacherous Hutt Cartel. Together they will strike at the Drengir’s home planet deep in Wild Space. As Master Estala Maru of Starlight Beacon gathers Jedi to help, young Knight Keeve Trennis deals with the consequences of her triumph over the Drengir. . .

Keeve is still in the place where the Drengir took her mind. In this creepy place she sees Julus and Bartol. People who were taken by the Drengir. She also sees a mysterious cloaked woman. Keeve starts to attack another Jedi and tells him “the Harvest will be protected”. The Jedi she was fighting before plunges his lightsaber into her stomach. She then comes to and she is on Starlight Beacon being monitored by a Doctor. Keeve is seeing the Drengir in her mind so she goes to see Master Maru. He is unsure if she can help them in their efforts.

Chortose: Agricultural Hub 42. Two creatures are reaching out to Starlight Beacon for help because the Nihil are coming, but no response. Keeve shows up to save these two creatures from the Nihil but is failing. The cloaked woman, Orla, she saw in her mind has shown up to save them all. Orla said she is a Wayseeker and the Force tells her where she is needed. The Force led her to Keeve. Keeve needs help because she is believing that no one wants her around and that she should not have become a Jedi Knight. At this moment Keeve has a pain in her head and tells Orla that the Drengir root in her mind told her that everything is all over. Then we see a disturbing photo of what looks like Marshall Kriss as a skeleton and Drengir roots all in her body.
