What a fun movie! I was giggling throughout the whole movie. It was so cute! I know I am late to the program with this movie, but I am so happy it is streaming on Netflix.
It was obviously geared towards children, but there was definitely enough in there to keep adults entertained. It’s a Minions movie! So of course I would expect nothing less. It was full of action, great puns and jokes, and fashion. So what’s not to love?!
The animation to me was wonderful. It was FULL of colors, so you know for sure this will attract the attention of kids.
Overall, it is a Minions movie. So you already know what you are getting yourself in to. This is through and through a kids movie. Yes, there are still things in there for adults, but FOR SURE more for kids. For sure check this movie out if you have not already.
🔴 Plot Summary Spoiler Spew 🔴
Gru, who is 11/12 at this time, wants to become a super villain. Gru gets an invitation to audition for a spot on the Vicious 6. They are looking for someone because the founder, Wild Knuckles, has died. He died because the rest of his team betrayed him. He was betrayed during a heist for the Zodiac Stone. Gru’s interview with Belle Bottom does not go as planned. He gets kicked out because he is young. Gru is upset so he steals the Zodiac Stone and escapes with the Minions.
Seeing the Vicious 6 for the first time was GREAT. It was fun seeing each of their personalities and their fashion sense. Each character was entertaining to see on screen and they were all funny.
Gru gave the Stone to Otto, but Otto trades is for a pet rock. In anger, Gru fires all the Minions and then goes to find the Stone on his own. Knuckles, who we thought was dead, takes Gru ad takes him to San Francisco. He tells the Minions if they do not give him the Stone then he will kill Gru. The Minions, Kevin, Stuart, Otto, and Bob leave for San Francisco. They bump in to Master Chow and she gives them lessons on how to defend themselves.
When Gru fired all of the Minions my heart broke for them. They are so cute! How could you fire those cute little faces?? Going on this adventure with Kevin, Stuart, and Bob was a wild ride. The Minions are my favorite part about these Despicable Me movies.
Otto, by himself, finds the Stone on a biker. Meanwhile in San Francisco, Gru and Knuckles start to become friends. Knuckles starts to teach him how to be a villain and they go to the Bank of Evil so they can steal from it. A this time the Vicious 6 find out about Knuckles and blow up his house. Gru heads to Chinatown and to the New Year parade. Stuart, Kevin, Otto, and Bob finally find Gru. The Vicious 6 are able to steal back the Stone and turn the Minions into Zodiac animals. Stuart, Kevin, and Bob use the teachings of Master Chow and fight back. They are able to knock out the Vicious 6. Gru gets the Stone and turns them into rats and turns the Minions back to normal and rekindles their friendship.
This entire fight scene had me tee heeing. Kevin, Stuart, and Bob fighting as Zodiac animals was funny. I’m sure if I saw this in the theater I would have been laughing right along all of the other kiddos.
The Vicious 6 are arrested along with Knuckles. Knuckles passes away in the hospital due to his injuries. At the funeral Gru gives a eulogy, but sees that Knuckles faked his death. Gru and Knuckles drive off with the Minions.
I totally knew Knuckles was not going to die. Since he escaped death the first time I was positive he would do it again.
Post Credits
Gru wants to hire Dr. Nefario because he created the machine that was used to steal the Zodiac Stone. Nefario says yes to him.
It was great to see this cameo of Dr. Nefario. It was fun to see the origin of how he and Gru became a duo.
