I absolutely LOVED this movie! The only drawback is that you will need to have seen Loki Season 1. Well, you don’t NEED to see it because they do a good job explaining, but you will have a way better understanding of what is happening.
For everyone who thought Disney would ruin this movie was so wrong. It was fun, entertaining, and it has a lot of heart.
Ryan and Hugh’s friendship truly does shine in this movie. You cannot fake chemistry like that. They looked like they had such a blast filming this movie. It was great seeing them together on screen and it was fun seeing them do interviews for this movie.
Deadpool and Wolverine is a well written movie and there is nothing they will not talk about. I love that Disney and Marvel played ball and allowed Deadpool to do its thing where they poke fun at anything. They often found themselves the butt of some of Deadpool’s jokes. So it was nice to see Disney and Marvel have a sense of humor. But I also think they know the movie will sell well, so why not be in a few jokes?
The humor in this was great as well. The fourth wall breaking was in great spots. It did not feel out of place and it did not take me out of the movie. It stayed in the pocket and the fourth wall breaks just added to the humor. The writers are aware of all the happenings within the MCU that they are able to make fun of themselves and Disney, but it is all tastefully done.
Action in this movie was off the charts. There was always something constantly happening and there was a lot of it. Personally I think it is the bloodiest move out of the three and probably the most vulgar one too. I will say, the action they uh, they get very creative.
You know, aside from all the action and comedy, there was a lot of heart in this movie. There are times where the movie gets heavy, but it is handled with such care you do not mind when the seriousness of an issue comes around. It is so well placed it does not feel like you are getting taken out of the movie. To go from a ton of fighting to slowing the movie down, it wasn’t jarring. It all felt right. Very heartwarming movie and I am here for all of it. The way they progressed Wolverine and Deadpool’s character was beautiful to see.
Cameos in this were fantastic. I do not think a lot of people will get the cameos. Not unless you truly have seen every single Marvel movie that has come out. What’s great is that I feel the cameos were done nicely they do not take away from our main characters. They help support the story to move forward and adding to it. All the cameos are fan pleasing to those who know all of the movies.
Overall, I had such a fun time watching this movie. I enjoyed everything about it. I love that it was handled with care and I am happy to see Deadpool and Wolverine are now with the MCU. I am excited to see where else this will lead to. You also cannot beat the comic accurate Wolverine costume. Maybe now we can get a Spider-Man and Deadpool movie (in the comics Deadpool is OBSESSED with Spider-Man).
🔴 Plot Summary Spoiler Spew 🔴
We open with Wade talking to Happy about the possibility of him becoming an Avenger. Wade really wants this because he wants to matter and to make a difference, but sadly he is rejected. Vanessa broke up with him and he wants to prove to her that he can be more. Vanessa is alive in this movie because Wade uses Cable’s time machine. Wade is now a car salesman along with his friend Peter.
Cable and Peter are both from the second Deadpool movie. Peter was also part of the X-Force.
Seeing Wade talking to Happy made me chuckle. I truly do love seeing Jon Favreau show up in these movies. Even though his roles are small, you can see that he is happy to be part of all this. Yes, he is the reason Marvel is where it is, but it is fun to see him enjoy it all. I also have much love for him because of his great success with creating Iron Man and his success with Star Wars.
Wade’s friends have thrown him a birthday party. He gets a knock at the door and it is the TVA (Time Variance Authority). They capture him and bring him to Mr. Paradox. Paradox tells Wade the is running a sub section of the TVA where they monitor the Sacred Timeline. He also tells Wade that his dream can come true and he can join Earth 616. When Wade agrees, Paradox tells him his timeline (Earth 10005) is slowly dying because Logan, the anchor of this whole timeline, has died, and to top it off Wade has to leave everyone behind. Paradox says Logan was holding his whole timeline together. He is also working on a Time Ripper device that can destroy timelines instantly. Wade does not like where this is going so he steals Paradox time traveling pad and uses it to search for a Logan/Wolverine variant that can help save his timeline.
After a long search, Wade has finally found the Wolverine variant he was looking for and returns to the TVA. Paradox tells Wade he cannot just bring a new Wolverine. That an anchor cannot be replaced. Wade learns Paradox is working on his own and the TVA does not know about the universe destroying machine. Paradox then pokes Wade and Logan with a stick that makes them vanish into the Void. Where a cloud creature named Alioth rules and eats everything in the Void. The Wolverine variant Wade got is known as the worst one. So Wade promises Logan that the TVA can help him in his timeline, as long as Logan helps Deadpool save his timeline. Wade and Logan come across Johnny Storm (Chris Evans). They are all captured and taken to Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier twin sister. She kills Johnny and leaves Logan and Wade for Alioth.
The Void is a place where all things go that the TVA deems is wrong in a timeline or if a universe gets destroyed. In the Void we see the 20th Century Fox logo. This gave me a good chuckle because Disney bought them out.
In the comics, Cassandra tried to kill Charles in the womb, but Charles did a psychic blast that caused his mom to have a miscarriage. Somehow Cassandra lived without a body and created one over time. In the movie Emma Corrin does a FANTASTIC job at playing Cassandra Nova. Emma has a great Villainous way she moves her body, the way she looks at the other actors, and the way she plays her voice. Everything she was doing was so believable it made my skin crawl.
When Cassandra’s henchmen come to take Wade, Logan, and Johnny I was giddy inside because a few cast members from the original X-Men movies came back to reprise their roles. Sabertooth, Toad, Pyro, and Juggernaut were all from the original X-Men movies that came out in 2000, 2003, and 2006.
Also, Cassandra’s people rolling up like 2015 Mad Max film was very funny.
Wade and Logan escape and come across a Deadpool variant called Nicepool. Nicepool tells them about a resistance group that has been trying to get rid of Cassandra. During their search for this group, Logan learns Wade was bluffing about the TVA helping his timeline. They have a long fight to the point where they knock each other out. When they wake up they find themselves with the resistance group. This group is Laura, Elektra, Blade, and Gambit. Johnny was in it, but he died. Wade gets everyone pumped up to fight Cassandra, except for Logan. Wade also tells Logan that the Wolverine in his timeline saved Laura. The group decides the best way to take out Cassandra is to use Juggernauts helmet because it will block her powers. Laura and Logan have a talk where Logan confesses what happened in his timeline. He left the X-Men to go drinking and while he was out, people came in and killed everyone.
Seeing all these cameos had me smiling from ear to ear. It was great to see everyone reprise their rolls. When Chris Evans came out as Johnny Storm it was the best! I truly liked the original Fantastic 4. Seeing Wade Wilson get all excited because he thought it was going to be Captain America was funny. He was disappointed along with other people in the viewing audience.
Jennifer Garner was Elektra in the movie Daredevil that came out in 2003 and in Elektra that came out in 2005. Elektra originates from the Daredevil comics. In the comics, Elektra is skilled assassin who is trained in martial arts and has trained in the ways of a ninja. She has hatred in her heart and is drawn to violence.
Wesley Snipes was Blade in the Blade movies that came out starting in 1998. Blade is half human and half vampire. Even though he is half vampire, he does not have any vampire weaknesses, but he does have all the powers and strength as a vampire. He is a vampire hunter because a vampire killed his mother and made him a vampire.
Channing Tatum as Gambit was the freaking best! I thought they did his character justice. I know in the movie he talks with a heavy accent, but he does as well in the X-Men TV shows. If you want to see for yourself, go check out the X-Men animated show on Disney+. Gambit is one of my all time favorite characters. My heart was so happy when he came out on the screen along with his costume. Gambit (Remy LeBeau) is a mutant who has the ability to charge objects to make them explode.
The resistance group gets to Cassandra’s base where everyone distracts all of Cassandra’s people. Wade AND Logan head straight for Cassandra. Laura is able to get the helmet and give it to Wade. They put it on her to stop her from using her powers. One of Cassandra’s people, Pyro, attacks her and leaves her for dead. Wade and Logan decide to save her because she has a tool, like Dr. Strange has, that can open a portal back to Wade’s timeline. They take off the helmet, Cassandra heals herself, opens a portal, and then kills Pyro. She learns that Paradox put Pyro up to this even though Cassandra and the TVA have a deal to leave her be to rule in the Void.
Wade, Logan, and Cassandra go through the portal. Cassandra meets with Paradox and learns about the time ripper. She wants to use the time ripper to destroy all timelines and to leave only the Void. To help her, Cassandra brings over from the Void an army of Deadpool variants. Wade and Logan keep fighting all the variants. They are fighting a losing battle until Peter shows up to help. All the other Deadpool’s run to Peter because they all have a Peter in their timelines and they love him.
Paradox tells Wade and Logan the only way to stop Cassandra is to go and destroy the time ripper by going to where it is powered and destroying it from there. Wade and Logan know this is a one way trip, and they fight to see who gets to go. Logan wins, but Wade trades spots with him at the last minute. Logan is able to break into the room with Wade and helps him take out the time ripper. By doing this they also kill Cassandra. Paradox is arrested by Hunter B15. Hunter B15 tells Wade and Logan they have stopped Earth 10005 from disappearing. Wade asks HunterB15 to please save the resistance group and if it is possible to change Logan’s timeline. Hunter says she cannot change Logan’s timeline because what he did is what led him to help Wade. But she does allow Logan to stay with Wade in his timeline. Logan goes over to Wades house where they hang out with all of Wade’s friends. Logan encourages Wade to reconcile with Vanessa, and he does.
I am sad that Cassandra died. I’m sad because she was such a great villain. I know the MCU is heading towards Galactus, but Cassandra would have been a great person to keep around to be a villain for future X-Men movies. Who knows, with this whole multiverse thing, maybe they will bring her back.
I LOVED seeing Hunter B15. She is a favorite of mine in the Loki series.
Seeing how they handled Wolverine in this movie was beautiful. Hugh Jackman was truly made for this part. I hope he continues to play him for as long as he can. And seeing him in his comic accurate suit was simply amazing. It was everything I could ask for and more. How they handled Deadpool was great too. Deadpool was Deadpool throughout the movie, but I love that they made him grow as a person and as a character. I cannot wait to see what else they have in store for him.
