This movie was charming and cute. I like that this was very much for today’s times where people were working remotely but now being made to come back into the office. When I was working I remember not being happy when we had to start doing a hybrid schedule.
I will say though, even though I enjoyed the movie as much as I did, it did take a while to get going. The pace was a bit slow. The second half is where this movie shined. The first half everything is pretty much done by reading notes and writing them. But this means the tension was building the whole time until it was time for them to finally meet each other face to face.
Chemistry! Thank you!! I love when two actors just come together so wonderfully. Janel and Scott did a fantastic job playing off each other. I am a fan of Scott when he was on the TV show “Greek”. Coming from that show I knew I would like him a lot in this movie. I am just happy to see that his partner worked well with him. Even though most of the interaction was through notes. I still found myself rooting for them to get together. And that is saying something because it was a lot of voice over work.
Overall, this was a fun twist on a workplace romance and secret admirers. Such a feel good romantic comedy.

Omega Technologies just acquisitioned a boutique social media startup, ArtistAxis (a platform for artists to get work). Liv will have to be the one who makes sure the merger goes well. During a video conference, Walter (Head of Omega Technologies), tells everyone they will now have to work in the office two days a week and work from home the other two.
Liv picks out her new desk at the office and at the end of the day she packs up her belongings. However, she does leave a succulent on the desk with a note attached. The next day Tom picks the same desk as Liv and sees the note with the succulent. He writes back saying he does not mind and that he brought a few of his own items.
The next day Liv is not happy with all the things Tom (Mr. Tuesday) brought and she is not happy with the mess he left. She writes a note back to him saying they need to put their stuff away at the end of the day. Tom then writes back to her saying she will need to keep her cactus in the drawer as well. While reading this note, Liv smells something bad around her desk. She finds a half eaten sandwich.
Liv writes to Tom and says to not do that again. Tom feels bad so he buys her a pastry and tells her she can leave out the succulent. As a thanks for the apology, Live brings back out all of Tom’s decorations. Days are passing and we are seeing Tim and Liv pass notes back and forth and getting happier with each passing day.
During a all hands on deck meeting, Liv and Tom finally meet in person, without knowing they are desk mates leaving notes for each other. At this meeting Liv tells the whole staff they want to rebrand the ArtistAxis image and all of Tom’s team has to report to her. Tom is not too thrilled about that.
Tom knows about Liv’s noise problem since they have been exchanging notes, so he buys her noise cancelling headphones. He also leaves her a note saying that they should start using the Omega Tech messenger. They set up an account so they can message each other faster.
During a team building contest, Tom and Liv are paired. They win the contest and win gift baskets that have vouchers that would make great dates.
Tom messages Liv and asks her what music does she listen to, to help her work. He is having a hard time with a new logo. She tells him Bach and do yoga with candlelit. He does both and comes up with a design. Since he is thankful, he asks her out on a date to a fancy restaurant called Enclave.
Liv is at a senior home where she volunteers weekly. She has grown close to two ladies and has told them all about her office romance. She tells them that her office crush has finally asked her out. One of the ladies says her son just asked out his office crush too. She tells Liv and the other lady that he is taking her to Enclave. Liv figures out she is going on a date with Tom.
Liv, Tom, and Walter have a meeting to discuss the logo redesign. Tom shows him the new logo. Liv loves it, but Walter hates it. He says he will do the new logo himself.
It’s the day of the date. Liv shows up, and cancels the date with Tom via the messenger app. She intends to tell Tom, but he complains to her that she did not have his back during the meeting with Walter, so she decides not to tell him.
Tom visits his mom and she gives him a nudge to ask out Liv (not Ms. Monday) to a date to cook with a celebrity chef. The next day Tom apologizes to Liv and asks her to a cooking class. At the cooking class they become closer, but it is stopped because Chad from HR is also at this same class because Tom invited him.
I do not understand why Tom invited Chad. I know Tom said that Chad was super excited about it, but he should have kept it to himself and given Liv’s winning ticket to Chad.
Walter shows the new logo to Liv and Tom. Tom tells him he does not like it. Walter says he is going to take ArtistAxis to more of an AI approach. Tom and Liv quit at separate times.
Tom visits his mom to tell her his frustrations with Liv. But she gives him perspective that people always have someone to answer to, except for him because he has been his own boss. Liv messages Tom as Ms. Monday and tells him to meet her where they were supposed to the first time. Tom gets to the restaurant and follows post it notes that say Mr. Tuesday.
Since Tom and Liv quit. I didn’t understand why they still had access to the Omega Technologies messaging app. But I know HR can be slow at updating their computers, but still.
Liv tells Tom she quit and wants to make another company. She wants to make a boutique design firm. Tom loves the idea and says they can call it Patchwork.
I wish they went into a little more detail about the new company and maybe did one of those like “1 year later” type of things. Nothing too big, just even them in a office showing they are doing well.
