🟢 Non Spoiler Review 🟢

Chemistry

The chemistry between Laura and Nicholas was pretty good. It was slow to start, but it got better. But to me it didn’t fully reach it’s potential. When I was watching the movie I always felt there was something missing between the two. I can’t put my finger on exactly what was missing, but I know their connection wasn’t fully there. There were many cute parts that they had together, but it really did feel like they had a disagreement before they started filming.

Likes and Dislikes

I don’t know if it was just my DVR that messed up the film sound, but to me it constantly sounded like you could hear cars in the back. Either cars or you could hear strong winds. If everyone else had this same issue then that makes me a bit irritated. It irritates me because we get a Mexican lead actor and the sound quality is not up to par at all. BUT, if it was just me, then I take back my comments and my DVR stinks 😅

I love that Hallmark is branching out more and more with the actors they are picking for their movies. Hopefully Hallmark will keep diversifying and not just make one or two movies and then that’s it. I truly want this to become the norm.

The representation of Mexican culture was good, but it could have been way better. Yes they are trying, and I can see that, but there did need to be a little more done. Some of the Spanish words that were used were the basics. Yes I understand that not everyone speaks Spanish, but this is why we have captions. I would have appreciated at least one full conversation.

Another thing that really stood out to me was the writing. I truly feel it was lacking. They could have made this a really cute romcom, but they missed the mark and not making it that. There were some parts that were cute, but it did feel a little forced. Some of the dialogue stuck, but other parts of the dialogue really took me out of the movie. Which bummed me out because I was really looking forward to this movie. I LOVE Nicholas Gonzalez on The Good Doctor. Because the writing was a little lacking, I felt the pacing of the movie was slow too. Since there wasn’t a whole lot to the movie they just dragged out what they could to make the movie long enough. I would not have mind the slow pace if the romance and the chemistry was solid.

You know, I did quite enjoy the whole aspect of a 13 year old playing cupid and setting people up together. She sets up adults as well as her fellow classmates 😂

Overall

This is overall a wonderful movie to watch. Even though it does have its downfalls I am happy that this movie has a Mexican character lead. And this movie is still filled with romance. . . Even though it is not AS MUCH as other Hallmark movies, I still thought it was good.

🟢 Watch or Don’t Watch? 🟢

At the end of the day I say yes watch the movie. It was still a pretty good.
