I don’t have toooooo much to say about this movie. There is not much too say because it wasn’t THAT great, but it wasn’t THAT bad at all either. For me it was right in the middle. Still enjoyed it though.

The Meeting of Our Future Couple

Carly did not like the empanadas Nick made. So Nick went to go and confront her about why she did not like them. Nick then fixes the problem, rather quickly, and takes them back to Carly so she can try it. He also gives her love advice to play it cool with her college crush.

Writing

I quite enjoyed the storyline of this movie. It was a very believable story. This is exactly how friendships start and then blossom into a romance. The humor in the script was pretty great as well. They did a great job with this romcom. The flirty friendship angle was perfect.

Chemistry

Janel and Marco had wonderful chemistry together. I love that they start off as new friends before it blossoms into something more. These are my favorite stories when the love happens naturally. Sometimes Hallmark does rush the story and sometimes I don’t see how the couple can be so madly in love. But when it is a story like this where it takes it time, it makes the love that much more believable.

Marco is such a natural actor that it is refreshing to see. He was full of charm! You could totally tell this is how he is in real life. Nothing felt forced. Sadly, I did not feel the same way for Janel. Like I believe the chemistry her and Marco had, but I did not believe ALL of her acting. Her character was very shy and quirky and I felt like this is not a character Janel normally plays.

But, overall, I did like the chemistry between Janel and Marco. Their chemistry has been a lot better than previous actors. I hope they star in another movie together.

Likes

Towards the end of the movie they do a time jump. I am a fan of Hallmark starting to do this. It gives the couple more time for them to get their affairs in order before they start a serious relationship. I am also a fan that they took their time with the relationship between Nick and Carly.

Dislikes

I was not a fan of how child like Carly and her college crush Matt were acting. I know people can feel giddy and butterflies when something new is trying to start, and I know everyone acts differently when they are trying to flirt, but it was just a bit too High School for me.

Is It Just Me. . .

Does the Marin Woods Lodge look exactly the same as the lodge from the Hallmark movie Five Star Christmas?

🟢 Watch or Don’t Watch? 🟢

You should definitely give this movie a chance. Overall it was pretty good. It has a good rewatchability.

🔴 Spoiler Spew 🔴

The fire wing challenge was super silly. I know they took this from the YouTube show Hot Ones, but it was funny to see them do this hot challenge. You could totally tell it was fake. They should of made the actors eat real hot sauce. Like not the hottest one where it melts your face off. But they should have put a little spice on the wings.

So Carly does bridal styling for celebrities and Carly’s college friend’s have NO idea who she is. Come on. Everyone says how much of a celebrity she is, but they have no idea what she does. So I find that hard to believe.

I did not agree with how Carly and Nick reacted when she started to break out in hives because of her allergic reaction to his food. They should have freaked out a little more than that. I was in the food industry for a little and if a guest has ANY allergic reaction your heart starts to beat out of your chest. You have to see where the heck it went wrong. I know Carly was very at ease about her reaction, but still. Nick should have freaked out because he is not allowed to be experimenting with food anyway.

Also, the date Carly and Matt went on was terrible! I know it was written that way so we know that these two do not belong together, but the script was super bland. All they did was sit in silence. They really did not even talk about anything that they could disagree on. All they talked about was food and golf. And those are not huge deal breakers. I honestly found Carly a hypocrite in this scene because Carly told Nick that fashion is just an expression of who you are and it is ok with what you wear. Then she makes fun of Matt for wearing pleated shorts.
