WandaVision – “Previously On” – Episode 8 Review

๐Ÿ“ธ: Marvel Studios

Hey WandaVision fans!

The last episode is this Friday! I can’t believe it!

One more episode to go and we get to see how Wanda. . . I mean. . . Scarlet Witch, will fit in the multiverse of madness.

Alright. Let’s get into episode 7. . .

๐Ÿ”ด Spoilers ๐Ÿ”ด

I absolutely love that we got some backstory on Agatha and that we were taken through Wanda’s life.

Even the opening to this episode was great! I loved how it went from the red Marvel to purple Marvel representing Agatha’s magic.

๐ŸŸข Agatha ๐ŸŸข

Agatha tells us that she was drawn to the hex. So it was as I suspected. Agatha felt the power Wanda was emitting and it drew her to West View.ย

She also tells us for the first time that Wanda’s magic is chaos magic. Chaos magic is pretty much the same thing as dark magic, but chaos magic is the strongest type of magic in the universe. When Agatha mentioned chaos magic my first thought went to Doctor Strange because Dormammu and Kaecilius use dark magic. I think at the end of the movie Mordo I believe is going to start using dark magic. From what we saw in the beginning with Agatha it is safe to guess that she also uses dark magic.ย

I am seeing where everything is starting to connect to Doctor Strange. Not only is the magic the same, but Agatha does the same movie Strange does. Strange pulls a hair off of Thor’s head to find Thor’s dad. Agatha does the same thing with Wanda. She pulls off a piece of hair, says a spell, then she opens up memory lane from Wanda’s past. Agatha pretty much is doing all this because she does not know how Wanda can be so powerful and not know the basics of magic.

๐ŸŸข Hayward / Vision ๐ŸŸข

WHITE VISION! WE GOT WHITE VISION!! White Vision is actually from West Coast Avengers issue 45. In this issue Vision does come back, but he has zero personality, unlike the Vision we know and love.

Freaking creep Hayward did exactly what I thought what he was going to do ๐Ÿ˜‘ I was afraid that he was creating a replica of Vision. Now. I DID NOT know he was going to use the original Vision. I thought he was making his own. Little did we know that he needed Wanda’s magic to complete the process. When Wanda finds out she is going to be maaaaaaaad. You know, when it got all the way to the top of Vision’s head it looked almost like a really small arc reactor where the mind stone used to be.

๐ŸŸข Pietro ๐ŸŸข

So Agatha says he is a fake Pietro, BUT! After she says this she tells Wanda that she had to use a possession spell. Makes me wonder how fake Pietro really is.

๐ŸŸข Wanda ๐ŸŸข

WE FINALLY GET HER SUPER HERO NAME! I let out a small scream when Agatha said the name Scarlet Witch.

Once Agatha sends us down memory lane we start to see all the sitcom references throughout the series. There were many that I got right, but I did miss the biggest one. . .Theย Dick Van Dyke Show. I have no idea how I missed that one ๐Ÿ™ƒ It’s so bittersweet to see why Wanda connects so much with these sitcom shows. Even though I knew Wanda’s parents got killed by a Stark Industries bomb, it was still super sad to see. We also get a glimpse that Wanda has always had powers.

Our next memory we get is when Wanda is with Hydra and experimenting with Loki’s staff. We see that Wanda was able to see what was inside Loki’s staff the whole time. I believe this was the first moment she was given the power to alter reality. We see this because Hydra members are looking at video footage and it skips ahead. What was awesome about her seeing the mind stone was that it literally opened her mind and she saw what she was going to become. . . Scarlet Witch. I truly believe that the mind stone progressed Wanda’s and Pietro’s powers. So this tells me that they are mutants (but we knew this because of the comics).

When we get to her final memory, of Vision, we find out that she NEVER took his body! That creep Hayward made us think she stole him. When in actuality she left him because Hayward told her that Vision was their property. When she leaves SWORD then we get our first glimpse of West View and maaaaaan it is not the greatest looking place. What I thought was cool was when the theater changed. When it did it said it was now playing “Big Red” and “Kidnapped”. This was a great nod to what is going on now. Wanda = Big Red and West View Townspeople = Kidnapped.

By the end of this Wanda was right all along. She can’t bring people back from the dead. So we now know why Vision cannot leave the hex. He was literally created from Wanda’s mind.

Even though we have seen how Wanda created her reality, we still have not yet seen her full potential. I think she is going to unleash a lot more power and it will lead right into the new Doctor Strange movie.
