I haven’t seen this movie in a long time and it is just as great as I remember it. Disney musicals are the best because they are silly and that is perfectly fine. The music is always pretty great and upbeat. What’s crazy with this movie is that it has Naomi Scott in it. I totally forgot she was a main character. If you don’t know who she is, she is the pink ranger in the newest Power Rangers movie and she is also Princess Jasmine from the live action Aladdin.
There is honestly nothing that I disliked about this movie. Partly because you know what you are getting yourself into when you watch a Disney musical, but this one is one of my favorites. The one I like more than this movie is Teen Beach. Camp Rock and High School Musical are pretty good too, but I could never really get into those as much as I did Lemonade Mouth. So to me Lemonade Mouth is one of the best musicals Disney has ever made. I will forever be hooked on it.
Sometimes in these movies the actors are a bit over the top. Like you can tell they are extremely new to acting, but in this one I feel they were all pretty perfect. Well, usually the corniness does come from the writers, but they really did reel it in a bit for this one. The writing overall was great. Even though there were 5 main characters, each character had their time to shine. No one was underdeveloped. The whole messaging was wonderful too. They also deal with other relatable situations for kids in high school. The characters deal with low self esteem, home frustrations, and social anxiety. As the movie progresses the movie teaches the kids how to handle friendships, relationships, stand up for what you believe in, and family problems.
Also, all the songs they sang were amazing as well! I already put these songs on my Spotify playlist 😄 They should have become a real band.
This is a wonderful family friendly movie. If you love Disney musicals and you haven’t seen this one, then you REALLY NEED to. It is currently streaming on Disney+.
