I give this movie 3 out of 10 vomits
🟢 Plot 🟢
Cindy is an aspiring fashion designer whose talents have been the creative force behind a high-profile designer but longs to strike out on her own. Hired to dress the ladies of a wealthy family hosting an upcoming charity ball, Cindy’s life takes an unexpected turn when Prince Ronan, in town to attend the gala, becomes smitten with her and also takes note of her talent for design.

🟢 Non Spoiler Spew 🟢
Ok. I will be upfront. This will be a pretty negative review. I wanted to like this movie. I really did, but there was nothing that I liked about this movie. It was not good. There was so much that frustrated me.
I liked what they were trying to do with this movie. It was different from what we have seen before, but I feel they did not execute it the way they wanted it to. To be everything just felt off. The whole story felt rushed and nothing felt flushed out. All there were, were bullet points, but no one went in and elaborated on the story of those bullet points. It just felt that no one really cared enough to dig deeper for this movie.
The story they were trying to do could have been a great movie. It seemed very loosely based off Cinderella. In the way that Cindy was underappreciated and overworked and her boss was taking the credit for everything and lying to Cindy about her future. They could have made it great if they followed the Cinderella formula.
The chemistry between the two actors was not that bad. I totally believed that they were friends on screen and off screen. The thing was that this was the only way I saw them. I did not pick up on any romance between the two.
Likes and Dislikes
Cindy’s character is supposed to be awkward and shy when talking to Ronin, but it does not work. Natalie to me did not pull this type of character off. Every time she did it, it felt awkward. It shows that no one gave her pointers on how to act this way. Another thing that felt off to me were the British accents. I don’t know if it was just me, but it felt something was off about those too.
What bothered me too was that there were bullies in this movie that pretty much got away with everything. They did not even get a slap on the wrist. NOTHING happened to them. So that bothered me because it showed that even if you are a bully that is part of high society it’s ok because you won’t get in trouble.
The only thing I did like was that Ronin was always wanting to be different than the people before him. What I mean is that everyone has an image of what a royal is supposed to be like and how they are supposed to act. So I did enjoy that Ronin was trying to break from that she he could become his own type of royal, but still have respect for the people before him.
🟢 Watch or Don’t Watch? 🟢
You can skip this movie and be perfectly fine. If you want to watch it just to watch it go right ahead, but just know there will be things that are going to bother you.
🔴 Spoiler Spew 🔴
Since I thoroughly did not enjoy this movie I will be doing spoilers too. There were a few things that I honestly did not like.
Virginia With Cindy
She (Virginia is the person who is running the dinner party and ball) welcomes Cindy with open arms and this was something I could not get behind. Cindy is nice! Don’t get me wrong, but Cindy and Virginia met for 2 minutes then all of a sudden she wants her around and Virginia kind of hints that she should be with Ronan. The reasoning for Cindy to come to the dinner party was to get to know the ladies to make the perfect dress. Really? That to me was ridiculous.
Cindy at the Dinner Party
Ok. This bothered me a lot when she came to the party. I understand that she showed up casual to the dinner party because Ronan’s sort of girlfriend called her and told her even though it was a trick. I was bothered because if I were Cindy I would have turned around, gone home to change, then come back. I would NOT have stayed and gotten a drink of wine and hung around. I know Ronan came out too in a casual shirt to make her feel better I feel WOULD NOT happen because a Prince would have handlers, which he did not in this one. Weird.
Also! The Minute to Win it game the played made no sense to me. The first round that was played was completely different than the second round that was played.
And where was Cindy’s boss? She said she was going to the dinner party, but we did not see her. Then in the next scene she was mad at Cindy for what happened.
I do not get why he could just wander free away from home. If this were real life NO Prince would be able to do this. They would have guards or someone from the royal house would come with them. I know Hallmark is not real, but they have done royalty movies before and I have never had a problem.
Rebecca in the Final Scene
She was SUPER rude to Cindy. At the end of the movie Cindy finally gets credit for all of her work because of Ronan. Ronan does this in front of Cindy’s boss and in front of the ladies who the dresses are made for. When Ronan calls out Rebecca, Rebecca turns around and in the most nasty, condescending voice, Rebecca tells Cindy that she is a great dress designer. Then she says they will be partners. The thing is that SHE WAS SINCERE. Like what the heck?! That was bad acting honestly.
Cindy and Ronin
So. Their story makes no sense. I will start at the ending. Usually with a story like this I was thinking Cindy would make a dress shop wherever it is that Ronin lives because he will be King. But nope not this time. Cindy is now partners with Rebecca and Ronin will be leaving home. Actually, I guess I don’t mind it because this means Cindy doesn’t NEED to drop her whole life, but she will at some point if she is going to be with Ronin.
Throughout the whole movie, the theme has been being spontaneous. What bothered me about this is that no where in the movie was anyone spontaneous. The only time that happened was when Ronin asked Cindy out to lunch. Aaaand. Cindy told Ronin that he is known to be a player, but then she still agrees to go out with him. I don’t get that at all because she really makes it a big deal that he is a player. Ronin says he only asked her out because he was being spontaneous. That is not something a woman wants to hear.
WHO IN THE HECK PARKS DRESSES NEXT TO A FONDUE FOUNTAIN?! No one. And I mean NO ONE would park extremely important dresses in front of a chocolate fondue fountain. They would put them in a special room where the clients would be trying the dresses on.
