The Meeting of Our Future Couple

– The First Meeting

I actually liked this meeting of our two leading people. It was very natural. They meet outside of a restaurant. Ben is waiting for the valet to come back with his car when Miranda walks out and they start talking to each other. To me this is natural because there have been times were I talk to strangers waiting for a valet or waiting in line for your movie to start at the theater. While waiting for the valet they had a comedic exchange that made me chuckle.

– The Second Meeting

Ben goes to break up boot camp with his sister and he runs into Miranda before heading in. He insults the boot camp and asks Miranda out. . .Twice! Without knowing she is the owner of the boot camp.

Writing

I was totally on board for the plot of this movie. It is such an interesting idea too. A break up boot camp. If this is not already a real thing it should be. I feel many people would totally be on board with that. Although they probably would use it as a dating service, but hey, if it works it works.

The ending was also very satisfying. Usually Hallmark leaves things up in the air and we have to assume everything is ok, but in this movie everything was tied up in a nice bow. We know exactly where everyone stand and where their career is going.

So this movie was a pretty well flushed out story. It was so thought out that even the surrounding characters got their own story lines that we see end as well. The background characters all had growth as they were going through this breakup boot camp. So I appreciated that everyone in this story was though of.

Chemistry

Ryan and Italia have WONDERFUL and strong chemistry together. They were totally believable and truly worked well off of each other. Even the chemistry with the surrounding actors was great. When Italia and Ryan would stare at each other I was like, “get a room!”

Now even though they were a wonderful pair, the romance was not a huge factor in this movie. I did not mind that there was not a lot of sappy romance. This movie shows that you do not NEED that for the movie to be wonderful. The characters Ben and Miranda started a friendship that grew into something romantic. And Italia and Ryan played that off genuinely.

Likes and Dislikes

Even though I have not seen Italia in much, I LOVED her in Designated Survivor. I know she was on Super Girl and she has been in other Hallmark movies, but I know her from Designated Survivor. She was fantastic in this movie. I really need to see the other Hallmark movies she has been in.

I also liked that our two leading characters grew together throughout the movie. This way it made their friendship feel real and authentic. Miranda was able to address the pain in her past and Ben learned that he can focus on a relationship while trying to grow in his career.

The messages of positivity were simply wonderful. It is SUPER easy to go down the negativity road. So I was appreciative when this movie focused more on positivity focused methods.

The only dislike I have is that Miranda was not using the methods she teaches in her real life. But then again not a lot of people take their own advice. It is always easier to give advice than to use it ourselves.

🟢 Watch or Don’t Watch? 🟢

I do recommend watching this movie. Overall it is a well done movie and it is a good getting over a break up movie.
