The Obstacle Course, Part 2
Overall this was a fun little story about Finn, Poe, and Rey. I do wish there were more humor in it and I wish that Rey actually did some of the obstacle course. It’s the title of the short story, but it really has nothing to do with the obstacle course. Like I was saying about the humor, I do wish it were a bit more funny. There were spots that I know were supposed to be funny, but it came out flat and the funny part did not land. I know they tried to give Rey and BB-8 the humor that C3P-0 and R2 have together, but it really did not come out that way.
With this mini story I ended up not liking it as much as I was hoping I would. Nothing really happened.

I appreciate that we get to see Kylo in somewhat of a different light. In this short story we see more of the inner dialogue Kylo has with himself. This is great to see because this is a side of him we don’t really get to see. Yes in the movies we do see some of this, especially when he is with Rey.
The writing and artwork are great in this mini story as well. It is a great storyline to have for Kylo. I am starting to understand him more than I did before, but to really bring it home they need to continue his story more. The artwork is wonderful! It is similar to the artwork of Vader on Hoth. I am honestly loving this artwork. Like I said before, I wishΒ The Obstacle Course had similar artwork.
I am starting to wish they were longer. Maybe they will be later on?

The Obstacle Course, Part 2
It picks right up where part 1 left off. We see Poe and Finn are tied up by someone who looks like the Joker from Batman π Another Pirate rides up to there Poe and Finn are and the two Pirates start to argue. They are arguing on whether or not they should call the First Order and give up their secret base. While they are arguing Finn is able to get out of his restraints. The Pirates start to go after each other on who should be the new leadership. Finn and Poe attack and retreat behind a rock and they are in trouble.
We see Rey still trying to escape the Pirates who are coming after her from the Cantina she was just in. She finally makes her way to where Finn and Poe are. She comes to their rescue and they leave the planet on the Falcon. They all joke with each other about the Jedi training obstacle course and Rey tells them to leave the training to Master Leia. I love the way that sounds. Master Leia.
At the end of this we do see that R2 was in the Falcon the whole time, so I don’t get why R2 could not come out and help Finn and Poe when they were in trouble. That did leave me with some questions.

It was great to see the inner dialogue Kylo Ren has. In the movies we do see a little bit of it, but we mainly see the inner dialogue in Adam Driver’s face when he is acting. Right now Kylo is telling himself that he is unsure of his new name, “Supreme Leader” and he is happy that planets fall under his command.
Kylo has more inner dialogue. He is telling himself that he is glad the galaxy will soon learn the power of the First Order and that everyone will be grateful to them. He is glad to be like his grandfather before him, a leader.
When he lands on a planet we can see he is telling the people of this planet that they are now under the rule of the First Order. While he is giving his speech there is an uprising from the townspeople. An all out battle ensues and we see Kylo chase after the woman who started the uprising. He catches up to her and they both ask each other was this all worth it.
We see Kylo leave the planet and the planet is on fire. Kylo has a last inner dialogue and he tells himself if he wonder if there will be anyone left to follow him since he is the leader of the galaxy.
