I love that we get to see Luke train to become the Jedi he is meant to be. He does two hard days of training and honestly, who could blame him. If I were the last Jedi I would be training day and night.
Writing
Worley does a wonderful job at telling the story of Luke’s training. He gives us an inside look into Luke and how he becomes connected to the Force. He also shows us the struggle Luke has within him and he shows us how he tries to overcome the obstacles within.
Artwork
Coleman and O’Halloran do such a wonderful at bringing this comic to life. The drawing was awesome. I love that Luke did not look EXACTLY like Mark Hamill. Coleman brought his own flavor to this beloved character and I am all in for that. When we see the ruins of Eedit my heart sank. I felt the true loss that happened here. Even though the color palette throughout this issue is simple, it still gives a great effect. You know, sometimes less is more, and that certainly is the case here. We want to focus more on Luke training and O’Halloran truly delivered on that front.
Overall
This was such a fun issue to read because we see the beginning of Luke becoming a Jedi Master.
🔴 Spoiler Summary Spew 🔴
Luke, C3PO, and R2 find the Jedi Temple of Eedit in ruins. Luke hears Obi-Wan’s voice calling out to him telling him this place is where he will learn to open himself so he can pass a test. Luke sees a lever that he has to use the Force on it and he has a hard time and gives up. He hears Ben call out to him telling him to feel the Force around him. Luke does and pulls the lever. Training remotes pop out.
While look is training, Farnay goes back home to ask her Dad what should she do about Luke because he is taking too long to return. She is captured by Storm Troopers and her Dad, Kivas is being help by an Imperial Officer. The Officer wants t know why Kivas has a Starfighter. The Storm Troopers tell the Officer that Luke is at the Temple.
The Troopers and the Officer find Luke and tell him to come with them. A scavenger comes out and help defeat the Officer and Troopers. Luke and the Scavenger start to fight. The Scavenger then falls into a pit to his death.
