I am so sad to say that I DID NOT like this movie. Like, at all! There is not one thing that I liked. I was just so irritated the whole time. Normally I try to find something I like about a movie, but there is no redeeming quality about this movie.
This script was awful from beginning to end. I am sorry to say, but this is honestly how I feel. There was really no thought behind it and nothing made sense. The beginning they focus on how they are butting heads in the toy business, but that literally lasts like 2 seconds. It was like they were starting off wanting them to complete that way with their business, but then midway they decided to change it to a road trip movie. In doing that they totally forgot about their original idea.
What’s crazy is that Hallmark has done MANY road trip movies. And those were great! So they have a lot of material to pull from and to just change some plot points around. I really do not know what happened with this one. It really does seem like it fell through the cracks. When Hallmark does road trip movies they are always fun and entertaining. “Road Trip Romance” was definitely not like the other movies.
Now, the chemistry between the two leads I can see there was potential. BUT. There was none. You could see they were trying their hardest, but I think the character of Megan was just too stand offish. I am not sure if that is because of the way it was written, or because Natalie Hall took it that way. She was just so cold and hard to talk to. I get it, they were always competitive, but Alden seemed to talk and try to get to know Megan.
So I am sure that there was zero chemistry because of the script and also because the actors did not give themselves into the movie. It also could be because they did not understand the movie they were making. That to me makes sense because I also had no idea what it is I was watching.
The ONE thing that I liked about this movie was the Renaissance Fair. I LOVE that they are showing this. I wish they did it justice a little more better, but it is what it is. What I did not appreciate about this though was the way they were speaking during the fair. Every word the kept adding “eth” to it. So that was a but annoying.
This movie made no sense from beginning to end and I was pretty irritated the whole time watching it. I have NEVER disliked a Hallmark movie so much. I really thought it was going to get better, but it never did.

Now. There were a lot of things that DID NOT sit well with me when watching this movie. It is honestly best if I just list them out or else my thoughts are going to all over the place 😅
Megan’s Mom
What in the actual heck?! I am SHOCKED that she did not go and pick up her daughter. She knew EXACTLY where she was and did not care at all about her. Like dude. Your daughter’s flight got cancelled, then rent a car stolen, then new car broke down, then has to sleep at a strangers house. COME ON MOM! Go get your freaking kid!
ALSO! During the sister’s bachelorette party, Megan asked her sister if someone else could her maid of honor speech since she will not be there. So, like any daughter would do. The sister getting married asked their mom if she could read the speech and the mom said no because she was doing a speech the next. SHE SAID NO! WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HECK!
Last thing. When Megan finally arrived on time for the wedding her mom gave two craps about her. Like come on.
Awful. All awful!
Sister’s Friend
It made NO SENSE as to why she was written to be a bad guy at the end. She seemed like a shy girl who was understanding of the whole situation. Then at the end she tells Megan the wrong church?! ARE YOU SERIOUS! That came out of no where!
Megan
How do you NOT realize that the dress you were supposed to wear was the one the friend had on?? Like you have had that dress picked out for a while. But whatever I guess.
Lastly with Megan. I do not believe that she lasted this whole time with makeup without her bags. AND! When she slept out on the haybales how was there no hay in her hair. Yes, I understand it is a movie, but make it a little realistic. Sheesh.
When their car got stolen it upset me that Megan did not take her bag with her inside the store. Like you stopped to buy stuff for the road trip. I know Alden was going to pay for gas, but that is messed up for Megan to just assume that
Town Couple
HOW DO THEY NOT TELL ALDEN AND MEGAN ABOUT THE FAIR?! Well, the truth about the fair. Honestly, even if they did tell them the truth how do they not allow them to charge their phone?!?! They know they are stranded and trying to get home!
Then, THEN! At the end of all this ridiculousness they give them the keys to their tow truck? REALLY?! Why give strangers a key to your truck? How are you gonna get it back now? He should have done that then from the beginning.
What made me really mad about them is that they truly made it believe like they had an extra room for Megan and Alden. Then to give them a tent to sleep in?! Dumb!
Alden
He bothered me when he was playing the horseshoe toss and the egg game. Why in the heck is he walking like an Olympic fast walker?! Made ZERO sense. ALSO! It was baaaaad editing during the horseshoe game. Alden DID NOT throw the shoe all wacky like they showed.
I also did not understand why he was jealous of that one guy. He has been with Megan this whole time and they are staying ONE DAY in this town. Yes you can fall in love with anyone, but they did not show a lot of romance between Alden and Megan. So I believed ZERO of their story.
