Oh. My. Goodness. James Gunn is the man. THE MAN I tell ya! Once his name got attached to The Suicide Squad I knew this was going to be a solid movie. If Guardians is solid, this one was going to be too. I know DC has a reputation for rolling over the director’s vision, but I do feel that James Gunn most likely told them to let him do what he does or else he will not make the movie.
This movie was funny, entertaining, gory, a ton of fighting. Gunn definitely did not shy away from blood. What was great too is that you can tell Gunn and the whole cast was having such a fun time with making this movie. With all that fun they had together as a group, it really shined through the silver screen, er, the TV screen in my case 😅
Even though I do not know as much about these characters as I do Marvel, I still very much enjoyed this film. I thought this one was FAR better than the previous Suicide Squad movie. James Gunn knows what he is doing. The writing was fantastic and so was the acting. You could totally tell that everyone was having fun during filming. That is what I like to see. I like that I can tell everyone was having a wonderful time on and off screen. It made their interactions more believable.
Like I said before, the cast was fun to watch. I enjoyed seeing people from the other Suicide Squad movie. You know, I also enjoyed Margot Robbie a whole lot more too. It truly felt everyone embodied their characters perfectly. With Gunn knowing a lot about comic books, you could see that knowledge shine through the actors. I thought everyone was perfectly cast as well. Sometimes I am not a huge fan of John Cena, but I enjoyed him in this.
Overall, I did feel there were some parts that were not necessary and other parts dragged out. Even with those minor things, I am glad James Gunn was able to create the movie he wanted. At the end of the day this is exactly how I would expect a Suicide Squad movie to be.
I HIGHLY recommend this movie if you have not seen it already. If you saw the other one and hated it then you DEFINTLEY need to watch this version. It is FANTASTIC! You will not be disappointed.
So, DC is capable of producing a fantastic movie, BUT, they need to have faith in their artists. Well, they actually need to get everyone together and come up with one cohesive story, but oh well 😂 At least the have a few good movies under their belt.
