THIS MOVIE HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL! I am BEYOND bummed that this movie has fallen flat. I was very much looking forward to it. The previews made it look great and funny and I am a huge fan of Kristoffer. So I was super bummed this did not live up to my expectations.

I love that we got a different story line that what we are used to. We got a married couple who have been growing apart and taking each other for granted. So I am a fan that they went that route in case someone watching is going through something similar. But man. They really fell flat with this message. They really yadda yaddad a lot of this movie. There were parts that I did enjoy and find really funny, but they really did rush the romance. I wanted to feel more of an emotional connection with the characters, but the writing did not allow for that. And also, they really made it seem like it was all Robbie’s fault and that is totally not the case. Becca was to blame as well. I felt they did not lean too hard in this direction because they don’t want to make the woman look bad, but that’s ok to do. I like it when movies are a bit more realistic even though it is supposed to be a little cheesy.

Marisol and Kristoffer I thought had ok chemistry together. There were some scenes where I could feel it and I could feel the emotions they were going through. And then there were some scenes where the chemistry was ice cold and I felt that Marisol’s facial expressions looked like a deer in headlights. Kristoffer has some fault too. He did seem like he was preoccupied with something. But then again, their characters were people who were growing apart and not understanding who their partner is anymore. I guess I was just missing those cutsey moments where the main couple looks at each other and you can feel the butterflies in your own stomach for them. I would not mind putting them in another movie together so they can try it again.

Overall, it was a decent movie and if it is on I do say watch it. But it does not have that re-watchability to it. Although, I will say. Bravo to this team for not shying away from Vince and Antonio’s marriage. I love that Hallmark is venturing out and making this more normal in their movies. I hope they continue this way and put gay couples more front and center.

🔴 Plot Summary Spoiler Spew 🔴

Becca and Robbie are both busy with work and do not have time for each other. They go to marriage counseling because they are growing apart and not communicating with each other. Their marriage counselor tells them they should go to this Bed and Breakfast at this place called Gracious.

When they get there Robbie notices that Becca booked a two bedroom suite. They soon realize this place is not for them and decide to leave Gracious. On their way out they notice a huge ornament crashes through their windshield. They go back to the BNB and get their room back.

The next day they head to a local farmer market and do some shopping. At the farmer market they agree to help out with the local holiday party by baking 200 pies. The next day after this farmers market there was a bunch of items that Becca and Robbie bought and they don’t remember doing and they do not remember volunteering to bake pies.

I thought this was a little dumb because they had about a glass of wine each. I would have enjoyed it if they would have shown us them getting drunk because it made NO SENSE for them to not remember when we were shown that they had one drink. Hallmark doesn’t have to show them getting sloppy, but at least just show us that they keep refilling their drinks.

Throughout the next few days Becca and Robbie do what they can to rekindle the spark in their marriage. They are finally able to rekindle that flame with the help of the Christmas town.

I know this summary seems short, but that is honestly everything that happened. Nothing too special was happening throughout the movie. They really fast forwarded through a lot of the movie. There was not a lot of details. It was very much surface stuff that was going on. I honestly don’t even know why they got back together. I didn’t believe that they would change. I really wish I would have felt their hurt a lot more. Also, I wish they would have written them trying to do the basics of dating again to rekindle that flame.
